Carpet Wearing
It’s a common misconception to think that your carpet can wear out from
being vacuumed too much. This is one reason why
homeowners
may avoid doing this task. However, it is incredibly rare that this should
happen. More often than not, the wear and tear are caused by foot traffic
and furniture damage than anything done to it by vacuums. If you are only
able to vacuum once a day, that is perfectly fine. Likewise, if you are
only able to do it once a week, then that is also acceptable.
More Tips for Vacuuming
Choose a solid upright vacuum cleaner. This way, you can get the best
results. Find a model equipped with a beater brush. The shark vacuum is a
good choice since it is an affordable model that performs well. When you
start vacuuming, measure your movements. Small strokes in three-foot
segments will give you the best results. Lift the vacuum slightly so you
can put some pressure on the beater brush and bring it into play. Rushing
through the vacuuming process is also inadvisable – so take your time.
If you go too quickly, you won’t be able to pull up all of the dirt and
debris that could be hiding in the fibers of your home’s
carpets. After each session, take the time to empty the canister or the bag, so
you don’t overwhelm the vacuum. Full vacuums are less effective because
they have nowhere to store all the dust that they are collecting. Then be
sure to test the suction on the vacuum. If it isn’t good, it might be time
for a replacement model. Try to vacuum small shreds of paper at a time to
see how well the vacuum will pick it up.
